Ready to vote?
There are over 40 great topics to chose from below. You’ve got 20 votes. So, let your voice be heard! Topics with the most votes on 22 March will be selected for the MarketingCamp morning sessions. We’ll announce them on the website and via email by 27 March. If your topic isn’t listed, don’t sweat it. Topics for the afternoon sessions will be voted on at Camp on 30 March.

How to Vote:
Just click on the “Vote” icon to the left of your selected Topic. That’s all it takes!

Wanna submit a topic? …There’s still time!!
Topic submission runs thru 18 March. Before you submit, keep two things in mind:
1. Be the ball. When you submit a topic, you’re the presenter or discussion leader. But, don’t worry – it’s an unconference. MarketingCampers want to riff.
2. Illuminate. Voting for topics submitted will begin 4 March and run thru 22 March.
Get voters to that happy place by answering: What is this topic about? Why is it important? How does it relate to marketing? How do you [presenter] add value?
If you have not already done so, be sure to register for MarketingCamp SF#.

Enter a topic you're passionate about here ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    • Story Telling is...One of 5 Key Skills to Effectively Influence Your Marketing Career

The marketing-centric theme is vivid story telling...the kind that promotes a resume, launches a career, Stands Out among candidates for key positions, leads powerful meetings, gains buy in for significant initiatives, garners support from top executives, engages a new client or transforms a big challenge. The other 4 skills would be employed to prove each initiative listed. I've presented a version of this at a NorCal Business Marketing Association Roundtable followed by interactive Q&A. Take away: participants would be able to see the value and follow marketing Best Practices to advance their own career.

Getting repeatable revenue often is the 1st great test for a start-up. A long list of company failures illustrates the cruelty of weak sales. • How virtual assistants are heroes for your sanity--and exactly how to get rescued.

Someone very wise told me once, "in business you can either spend time or money" What they didn't tell me was that one can get really creative about *how* you spend the money you do have. You DO NOT have to wait to start building a dream team online. It doesn't have to be confusing or cost a bundle. And you don't have to go through tons of people to find the right one.

The problem? There are SO many options it can be easy to get confused, feel overwhelmed by the process.

Should this presentation idea get win through…

          • Mobile Augmented Reality Apps for Marketing

With today's smartphones and tablets time is right for using Mobile Augmented Reality Apps for Marketing. Mobile AR Apps can be developed for marketing promotion to enhance the product/brand engagement of print media and digital displays. Mobile AR apps can be used in trade shows to create buzz and enable customers to interact with the brand/product. Mobile AR apps provide better engagement than QR codes. A Juniper Research report said augmented reality (AR) applications, which usually involve scanning an image with a smartphone to access multimedia content, will generate close to $300 million revenue in 2013 and expected to reach…

            • How do you market your business idea if you don't have money to market?

Let's be creative here--most methods of marketing require significant time and money resources. What happens when you have (some) time but not much or any money? What techniques can be applied to market your business and idea with few financial resources? What sort of free assistance is available and is it any good? We will discuss different options available to market a business or idea through social media, email, networking events and social groups, including meetups during this presentation. We will evaluate the quality and effectiveness of these free or lost cost techniques and compare them to some paid options.…

              • Turning Yourself from Expert to Guru

How can you stand out in today's world, where your prospects have access to more information than ever about the industry, key service providers in that industry, and customer testimonials from those using services similar to yours?

In many cases, buyers have conducted 75% of their research on the Internet prior to talking to any vendors about purchasing decisions. To guarantee that you make the cut and get the call, you need more than expertise: your competitors have that, too. You have to become a thought leader, a "guru," someone whose name your prospects hear everywhere.

                Come hear this talk…

                  • Marketing strategies for schools : unique issues

I have been involved in the area of marketing a school.
There are quite a few issues I have encountered to name but a few : resistance on the part of some educators to the very idea of marketing; lack of knowledge of what marketing is all about; the problem inherent in hiring an outside company to do the job.

This session will cover two critical aspects for marketers and entrepreneurs, (1) Idea Validation and (2) How to Connect with Investors. The first part will touch upon how do you qualify and quantify the market before you spend time, efforts and money building a solution that nobody wants? Preparing your Value Proposition.

And the second part will demystify where to find investors, angel investors versus VCs, identifying the right investors for your startup, preparing your elevator pitch. Shoieb Yunus to present this session.

Most companies have jumped in to social media without clear objectives. This session will bring a new perspective to
                        - See how social media fits into your overall marketing strategy

                        - Figure out the extent to which social media is relevant to your business or department, and how best to implement it given an increasingly digital world of sharing and…

                        • Defining your new product using Voice of the Customer -- Not only can a startup do this, you must!

Starting your product definition using Voice of the Customer principles will not only reduce your risk of failure, but it will dramatically shorten your development time. WIth a first time product this is more critical than ever. Think you can't do this in a startup with no product yet? Wrong! I have developed a method for "skinny'ing down the process" and using it when you have no idea what the produce will be yet. And, it can be done by founders and marketers of early stage companies very cost effectively and quickly. We can talk through some examples where this…

                                  • Whats More Important for a startup, Long Term Branding, or Short Term Profits?

As a product company you face a dilemma, Invest in branding, which will take 6-9 months, (Reviews, etc, image) or short term direct marketing (Adwords, ads campaigns, sponsorships) If branded correctly, your $50 product (which costs $25) can be sold for $100. Without branding, it only can be sold for $50.

You're also limited to a certain budget. How do you balance those 2? Without immediate short term sales, your company doors will close. Without long term branding, you'll forever be stuck in the $50 price range with little margins and no space to grow for wholesale.

                                    How do you…

                                    • El Mercado en Mexico... why our neighbors are so important?

People for Mexico spends hundreds of millions in states like AZ, CA and Texas "shopping".... are we really marketing for them? and if we are doing it how can we do MORE? :)
